.............I just bought a Sovereign Elite............it came with the alkaline battery pack............... Is there a Rechargeable Battery Pack available or would I have to make one??.........................NOW WITH THE BIG QUESTION.......................In putting this detector together do you wrap the wire from the coil OVER or UNDER the stem?? Some may laugh but this has been a big conversation at some of the local detector shops.......................I have heard depending on the brand that XXY detector works better if the wire from the coil goes over the stem/ others would be under the stem!! May sound like non-sense but I take all of my superstitions seriously...........................................LOL...........................JOE

It won't make it work any better as far as what direction the wire is wrapped; but what it will do
is cause more strain at the point it gos into the coil when you flip the coil up or down. Try this;
unhook the coil wire at the controll box and just hold the wire onto the shaft; now flip the coil
as far up as it will go and note how the wire acts; then do the same thing as far down as it will go
and you will be able to see how it makes a difference . You don't want to put a strain on it when
you flip the coil.

Yes, the Elite has an available Rechargeable pack and charger I believe you can use the same one as the GT uses, they are pricey new but If you place a wanted add for one I bet youll get a great deal on a used one.
The only difference in the battery packs is color.A good charger and rechargeable pack is going to save you money.I only use the Alkaline pack as a backup.Your next question will probably be can I use rechargeable in the alkaline pack,its not worth the aggravation,which is less voltage 9.6 compared to 12.The Explorers you can the Sovereign works best with the rechargeable pack.
