I was thinking about the Intruder for the beach, wet sand with a mixture of Hot Rocks and Black Sand,..???

you may have to hunt in al metal , the hot rocks may prove to much for the GT its not so much the coil you may pick out somthing in the 1st inch but hot rocks overpower the GT and any detector , I say put the all metal to work ground balance on a hot rock and go for it , yes you will dig nails but you will find the gold that no one else can find

I'd try a smaller coil like an 8" coil. Smaller coils can see through ground minerals and hot rocks better in some situations.
