SOVEREIGN BATTERY LIFE??

...........................How long can I expect on the NiCads??................on a fresh set of Alkalines?? All I know for now is that the recharge time is about 10 to 12 hours! Also told to get more than one NiCad Battery Pack! I have an XS with the plug-in battery pack, these must be hard to find! Called a dealer but he has not called me back yet!......so not sure if these are still available! I have the alkaline pack and I guess if that if I have to.............. I can make another one following the pattern of the one that I have!.....................But still need to know the expected time for a set of alkalines and the set of Nicads!!??.....................................Thanks Joe

The Ni cads seem to last around 8-10 hours if I remember right while the alkaline went for about 14 hours, but the Ni cads voltage would stay at a given voltage at a longer time and drop fast. The alkaline would start at a high voltage and drop slowly, so the voltage was changing as you went.

I believe the Ni cad pack is still available for around $50 retail with a most dealers selling for $35 and listed in the price list as one for a 1700/Goldstiker which uses the same pack. If you were to try to build one yourself just remember with the rechargeable you need 10 cells and not 8 like the alkaline pack has to get the 12 volts needed.
