Sovereign as a general all around coin hunting detector?

kickback

New member
Would the Sovereign be a good choice as a coinhunting detector?New clad and old silver.I have been reading how it is great at old hunted out sites.I was just wondering about using it on Clad.I like the idea of hunting by tones and with the meter.Thanks.Bill

It truly is an outstanding detector, not only for new/old coins, but relics, jewelry, saltwater beach hunting but gold nuggets. The GT stands for Gold and Treasure. Read about them in our Specialty Items page.
Good hunting,

It take a little for some to get used to it as the Sovereign with a good meter ( I love the 180 meter) will give you the tones of different metal and the meter to tell the close tones that your ears may not tell the difference in and lets you the operator decide what to dig and what not too. One of the draw back with the Sovereign is you have to swing the coil slower and the copper penny will sound with the same tone and meter reading as a quarter will so you cant cherry pick the quarters out of the Penny's
I think those that spend the time to get to know this detector will tell you the Sovereign will impress you plus many others as what it can find in some of those worked to death areas.

The Sovereign in my opinion is one of the best and true all around machines you can buy.
And like all Minelabs the Sovereign goes deep so you can snag those old coins that have been buried for some time.
The Sovereign is a gem of a machine it just needs some practice to learn it's language.

There are detectors out there that are far easier to learn but none will outperform a Soverign IMO.

Found with my Elite. It was a deepy.

Found about 3 weeks ago with my GT. This was my first time out with the machine. This image may or may not show. Image Shack has been funky lately.

Does the GT really stand ofr Gold & Treasure? If it does I didn't know that. You learn something new every day I guess.
