Sov XS2-PRO Coil Options?

CoilToTheSoil

New member
Have a sov but it came with the small 800 bbs coil. I'd like a larger coil but can't seem to find any options out there. What will work with this detector?
Thanks!

The Sovereign coils are only made for the Sovereigns as they will not interchange with other coils. These are called the BBS coils and do see some on the auction site plus there must be a few sponsored dealers that have some.
The 8 inch coil is a good coil to learn the Sovereign with and I found out from my experience my 8 inch coinsearch coil could do better then the 10 inch BBS coil. For a larger coil the 10 inch Tornado coil used on the Elite and the GT is a great coil for a 10 inch coil.
There are a few option out there and for my coin hunting the biggest one that worked for me was a 12 inch Sun Ray.

Thanks for the reply. So what is this is read on excal coils saying "compatible with the soveriegn". Are excal coils a direct fit or do they require modification? Seems excal coils are available whereas sov ones are hard to come by with the exception of CORS (?)

Excal and sov coils are compatible, but excal coils wont have ends on them as they are hardwired ... IF the xs2 and gt coils are the same then you should have lots of choices; 10in tornado, 13in ultimate, 14in wot,i believe there were a few oval coils made as well..i think 12 x 15... i use the 10in tornado and 14in wot on my gt... nothing wrong with 8in though. Really just depends where your hunting as to which coil to use...

The Excalibur is a waterproof Sovereign, so the coils are the same as Bootyhoundpa is saying. You just hear more about the Excalibur as this detector is still being made. The Excalibur coils are hardwired in to make them waterproof, so if you dig buy one it will have to have a connector wired on so it will work on the Sovereign. I think if you buy a new coil they all have the connector on them and it you want to use on a Excalibur they have to change to a different waterproof connector or hard wired in to the Excalibur.

If you ever find one of these Excalibur coils without a connector, six pin mic connectors are cheap and they are easy to wire. The older 800 BBS coil isn't going to give your Sovereign its real potential. Both the 800 and 1000 Tornado coils will improve performance. The 10x12 SEF coil has excellent depth and separation.I think you would be pleased with the performance of the 1000 Tornado coil. Good Luck Ron

Awesome, thanks!

Rick, Do you still have the kit for the 550 meter? If so how much shipped to north Georgia? Do they come with instructions? Thanks JW

Yes,

I have some of the kits left to do the 180 conversion. You need someone to do the soldering as 2 resistors and the pot have to be replaced which comes in the kit for $18 shipped to you with copy of the instructions.

Being you are new I know we can't do a personal message, so my E-Mail is Lschroe929@aol.com
