hello everybody, i am new to this forum but have had metal detectors for years just never really spent a lot of time using them, well long story short i still have my sov xs and i am looking for extra battery, i dont know how to solder or i would make one, from what i see it has been done but i was looking for extra pack and they are no longer made, so any help in finding one would be greatly appreciated, thanks again for any input, larry
forgot to add that i have read all pages inthis forum looking for answers then i just saw something about a sticky for batteries for sov, go figure

The Sovereign battery sticky isn't up yet but Ron will probably get to it as he seemed to like the idea. There are several battery companies that will build custom packs for you. BatterySpace.com or is it BatteryPacks.com is one of them. Try googling "custom nimh or nicad packs" or something like that and I'm sure some sites will pop up. No need probably to send them your old pack to see how the plug is wired and such. Just send them a picture of it if you don't know what the plug is called or something. Tell them you want at least 1000ma cells but I'd shoot for about 2000ma or more for longer run times (that will give you at least double the stock packs run time). Some others on here I think had had packs made by a certain company so maybe they'll chime in with who they went to, as I think there are even a few companies that already know about the Sovereign packs of various types and will build one right quick for you without the need to explain it or the plug to them. I build my own packs myself for stuff so I'm not sure who to go to off hand.

Here's one of them to try (battery space . com)....

Larry for the Sovereign XS there are still places that make this pack one place in mind www.onlybatterypacks probably around 25.00.Another way, Radio Shacks AAA alkaline packs, build a module using 10 AAA batteries that will fit into the battery compartment.I have used AAA batteries with 1700 ohm with good results 8 hrs plus, this setup will usually have 20% less run time compared with the AAs.This requires a little shipping tape 5 minute epoxy, solder in series and a M 2.4mm female inlet plug. The Sovereign XS is one of my favorite metal detectors.Good Luck Ron

thanks ron for all the info, i will look into that, i have to learn the xs all over again , its been awhile since i really used it but hopefully soon, thanks again, larry
