Hi ya'all i have a sov. xs-2 pro and am having problems with it , it starts out ok when i 1st turn on and then 10 minutes later the treshhold goes very high i turn down volume and the TH to min. and still very high like full volume . Could this be the batteries ? Ty for any help.

It does it on both of my batteries and i just put a charged one in and turn it on and was very loud with threshhold and volume on low as possible.

GS,probably the batteries, are you using AA rechargeable in your Alkaline pack, which isn't enough 8X 1.2=9.6 wont' last long in a 12V system and older batteries won't even charge to peak level? Did you test the charged battery to see if it took a full charge?Good Luck Ron

Ron the batteries i have are 2 Nickel Cadmium Battery Pack 700 mah maybe the ones that came with the machine back in 2000-2001 and i charged them both for 14 hours

GS,put both packs on a test meter to see how many volts each one is putting out.Good Luck Ron

Sure sounds like your batteries are bad as this is what they do when they get low. If these are the factory rechargeable pack then I would bet they are bad as they are over 10 years old. If you have the alkaline pack that came with the new XS2 you can put in 8 alkaline batteries and check it out and from what I understand from what you are saying it will run great. The factory pack has 10 cells in it at 1.2 volt each to get the 12 volts needed to run the Sovereign while the alkaline uses 8 batteries at 1.5 volts each to get the 12 volts needed.

Yes , who ever had the batteries last wrote the date on them with it saying 2-1-02 . I wish i had a alkaline battery pack set up but it didn't come with the unit when i bought it a few months ago . I will have to look around and find one .TY GS.

GS,most of these battery places can rebuild your packs.I have a place in my town of Oxford that rebuilds packs for drills, they rebuilt a 12.V pack for my drill and now has a battery life at least twice of the old pack though not cheap cost me 39.95 plus tax.I would guess there's a battery place near you that could probably rebuild your pack in a day or two.Another choice rewire for the old adapter on the earlier models cheap and works better than the pressure clip.My suggestion I would have both of these packs rebuilt, one less problem and never have to buy batteries for your Sovereign for another 10 years.Good Luck Ron

Yes Ron there is a place in Conn. i can send them (Batterey Plus) im thinking thats the name . Going to get both rebuilt and will be set for the long hual. Thanks, GS.
