Hi guys, i am looking for a older sov alkaline battery pack. I think from sov. xs 2a-pro and older will do. I will buy it from you or trade you sometine for it. I just need one . TYVM GS

OK I saw some of your posts. Some say XS-2 and some say say XS-2A. It makes no difference on the Alkaline batteries, but the Nicads are different.

What you basically have for the Alkaline system were two AA battery holders that hold 4 batteries a piece. These plugged in into the Black PCB NiCad to Alkaline Battery Adapter. A little PCB board that basically had connections on it like two 9 volt batteries. This board had two contacts on the other side that push up against the two springs.

The Alkaline battery holders are easy to replace. In fact the Garrett AT Pro uses only one, but it is the same thing. I assume you are missing the Black PCB NiCad to Alkaline Battery Adapter. I doubt you will find one.

My suggestion is to operate on your Sovereign. The two springs each have a wire. One spring is positive the other negative. All you need to do is buy a new recharge pack that has 12 volts lined up so it will fit in the battery compartment. Put a new male end on the spring wires and plug it into the pack. The packs are usually sold with chargers also.

On the original and the Sovereign XS they used a battery pack that you had to plug a wire into it, the XS2 and the XS2a used the drop in battery pack. Both had their problem as the wire sometime if not careful you could pull the wire lose. The XS2 and XS2a had the drop in packs and were held in place with the battery door which could slide open and bit and you would lose your connection or become very unstable.
What I did on my last XS2 was ordered in a rechargeable battery from the company that make the pack for the Excalibur's, but these were made for the Sovereigns and one of the gold detectors of Minelabs. I had the put a connector on the pack with a female plug and sent me a male plug I soldered in the Sovereign, so I had a pack that I had to connect a wire too. It was easy to do and had to slide out the circuit board from the box and take the wire off the drop in board and connect my male plug. I know that company don't make them any more, but sure someone does and the charger I got worked excellent and can be used with other pack for around $20.
If you want a alkaline pack one can be made using 2 of the battery packs like the AT Pro uses and connect them together with 2 ends like the 9 volt batteries use and run to one wire and change your drop in set up to a wire to plug into the pack you built. Myself I would used the rechargeable packs as they have 10 cells in them to give you the 12 volts needed, The alkaline packs hold only 8 batteries so you can not use rechargeable in the alkaline pack and have to use good alkaline batteries to get the 12 volts.
