Sov up-grade

Hi, I aint to tec minded, but I do know that to get the best out my Sov Gt, I have to swing it slow.

I have been told, the minelab BBs and Full sectrum detectors DONT run in all freq at once, they paulse, like a wave, so go from one freq, through to the next and so on, than thay start again.

My question is (if we take the above as fact) could one simply put a faster chip/cpu etc etc.

minelab make to a cost, I wish to know which chip is used, and also which chip is the fasted avalible

any info would sure help me from messing up a good detector

Piero,
The 17 frequency BBS technology that minelab has is not what you think. The signal that drives the coil is a square wave that has a varying frequency. It starts at the high frequencies and works it way down to the lower frequencies and then repeats the pattern. This pattern along with the sampling method used by the processor make up the so called 17 frequencies.

The chip you are referring to is a microprocessor that has been programmed with code developed by Minelab. Replacing it is not really feasible because of minelabs code, this would be very complicated and beyond the technical reach of most people. I dont recommend attempting any detector modifications unless you really know what your doing.

(shameless product plug here..)
A few months ago you sent me PM about my Sovereign Amplifier. If you are interested in upgrading your Sovereign, my Sovereign Amplifier which should be ready in March, would be a excellent choice. The prototype units that have been tested by users on this Forum has given me valuable feedback and I have made some improvements to the design. The feedback I received has been positive and the prototypes are working well. I will keep you posted on the release date.

Shaun,

I got mine right when the ground froze solid to test is why you havent heard back from me on my amp. I did some air test and a few other indoor test and I cant wait to get out and try it in some of those well worked out area, Think I am going to find some deepeies for sure.

Hi Shaunfth

I think the sov needs speeding up and does not really need to see any more targets on every given sweep, which a deeper amp will do.

BUT and I say again, BUT thats only the detecting I do, on the beaches for instance, your amp will be worth its weight in gold.

I mostly cover in land sites, But would still be interested to know when you have a finnished product and price.

thanks again
