Sov on salty beaches; A/M or Disc.. rescue me..!

All metal at the beach, it goes deeper, and your gonna dig everything any way, right.
You can go all metal, then check it in disc to hear it too.
Dig it all at the beach!!!!!!
That's my story and i'm sticking to it :detecting:

Thanks Tulare,

I watch OldeBeechnut video again (part 1)

First; When he dig a toe ring. I observed the following:
In A/M; the signal is little, but it's there and repetitive
in Disc; no signal

Second; At the end, when he dig some trash;
in A/M; the signal is clear and good
in Disc; the signal is louder than A/M

Conclusion on video: High conductivity target gives better signal in Disc mode. Other good target may gives better signal in A/M because their conductivity is lower (like small gold which will pitch less than aluminium in Disc mode)..

Lesson for the beach hunt: I should be carefull when A/M is louder than Disc, altough it may be some rusted iron, chance are it's a small gold or other good one..

I continued watching and learning..

Bling;

I understand your technique, you are cherry picking only the low tone, that's good, less harch digging and more chances of good stuff.

But, what about the "nulling"? Are you not concern about all the lost ground the nulling created when you pass over iron?

I also run the disc all the time on any of the Sovereigns and I am a land hunter not a water hunter. I found that for me the disc sees deeper in disc as the tones will change I can hear better than those slight signals in all metal pinpoint. I run 0 disc most of the time as only iron will be rejected and will bump it up a bit in some areas. I have got many coins that were deep and just gave a slight threshold tone change and I couldnt hear anything in all metal pinpoint so I had to pinpoint the best I could in disc and with help of the S-1 probe was able to find the coins at some very impressive depth. I dont believe the Sovereign in all metal works with the BBS but could be wrong so it will not handle the ground as well as disc.
These nulls you hear and then the low growl of iron will still see a good target as the Sovereign keeps the tone of the last target until it sees the next target. When in a null before the growl come back in the threshold and it see a good target the tone will change if not going too fast with your sweep of the coil.
I have one guy local that hunts the river when low where tubing been done for years and he runs disc also as there is to much trash to run all metal and has one big collection of gold and silver rings and jewelry.

The Sovereigns are great detectors and feel it will go down in history as being one of the best detectors of all times.

My question #1; during the null period in Disc, am I missing anything?
Yes, In trashy area's.............. Check this video out at the 2 min mark {recovery speed}
Sov speed Recovery at 2 min mark

My question #2; is Disc more sensitive than A/M in certain conditions? Yes, Certain Conditions.

Hunting On the Delmarva coast, Disc with the Excal in the dry sand goes deeper then AM most of the time. But in the Wet,
AM will hit targets 18 inchs +, with Disc falling a few inchs short. check link below...

Depth Test Sov, Excal

I would recommend CJC
