Got the Sov Matt traded me (thanks Matt). So now im in the process of checking it out. Its going to do just what id hoped. Its got good depth and sensitivity and its lighter than the Exp with a greater sweep on the beach. The tones to me arent like the Xcal II.... more like the Blue 1000 with my Pro Gold headphones. Ill be using it when i cant get wet. Did a swap with Richard for a new Sov battery so with 2 rechargables i should be all set. Im pretty OK right now with the standard coil..... works well so i havent used the 13" yet. Pretty complete now with the 2 Xcals and the Sov. I might need to get a SEF 10X12 thou.they are really good coils. Only thing im missing is one of Rons meters once i get a better handle on the machine.

Having never used a detector before when I got MY Sov GT I was frustrated as I could not make heads or tails out of the tones that the machine was giving me. I purchased one of Ron's meters and it helped immensely. After a number of months of using the machine I usually know by the tones what is under the coil without looking at the meter. Of course I usually check the meter before digging the target.

Beach digging is a little different... i dig everything but iron or shallow bottle caps. Ive got several hours on the Xcal so the tones arent really an issue.
