Sov GT Woes

SurfPro

New member
I recently took my Sov apart for a thorough cleaning. I'd have been better off if I never touched it. When I took off the arm cuff straps that snap in, both of the snaps pulled out of the straps and stuck in the female end on the arm cuff. I was able to get them out but the straps are ruined. To make matters worse when I was putting the coil back on the shaft I over tightened the bolt and stripped it.

If anyone has an extra strap (or 2) and a bolt which is approximately 2 3/8" x 1/4", (I say approximately because it appears to be metric) let me know what you'd like for them.

Best,
SP

u can make strap from nylon belting as well........................

BUT...................do u mount yours under the forearm ??...............should still work .............maybe longer straps

examples

i do have extra cup and mounting if anyone needs, plus two brand new AAA's battery packs.............nickel met. hy. = 6 hrs. per pack...used 3 times each.

i sold my GT several months back

The nylon bolts can be found at most hardware stores or a local RC plane/car hobby store. I think they are 1/4" but not sure. Don't let that bother you. I got rid of the stock ones anyway because they were junk. Much stronger nylon ones at a hobby store or home improvement store. As for the strap. You don't want that pig of an arm cup anyway. The thing weighs 8.8 ounces, over half a pound. Order the one from Whites website. It's much lighter and comes with a good strap. Drill out the two rivets on the bottom of the plastic that the GT control box snaps onto and then rivet the one piece to the shaft. GT will then clip on/off it just like normal. You had to do that because the normal arm cup holds the bracket for the box to snap to.
