Sov GT,Weak sound in All metal?

Hi I'm a brand new GT user after changing from the Quattro,My first day with the GT was good as I found an 1816 silver sixpence,a spanish 10 centimos coin dated 1870 and a couple of rings and a necklace. The massive volume on even deep signals was very surprising as the spanish coin was so loud it sounded like an iorn bucket just under the soil,it was actually 8 inches down!!!

My question is about all metal, the sound is far far weaker in all metal than in disc, singals that nearly blew my headphones apart in disc were often quiet in all metal,I figured out pretty quick this meant a good non ferrous target, but why is all metal so weak compared to disc,I can't see myself ever searhing in all metal as I may miss faint signals, can anyone explain?

First of all, you should be running the detector at max volume. You set the max loudness by adjusting the headphones.

Audio in disc mode is compressed.......very loud compared to all metal modes which do not compress the audio.

My GT works this way....
Disc mode is loudest.
Pinpoint is next loudest.
All metal search (track/fixed) is weakest.

Don't know why they made it this way, but that's how it is.
