Sov GT vs/ CTX 3030:smile::crylol::help:

Has anyone compared these two machines ?? I have a Sov GT, but is thinking about a CTX 3030. What is the main differences ?? How much better is the CTX ? It is expensive,but is it worth the extra money compared to the GT ?? I know that the GT is old, but it is one of the best detectors ever made.(my opinion). Why would a sov GT owner change to a CTX ???
Please, convince me , I want a CTX.!!!!!

Roald.

What kind of detecting are you doing.I hunt mostly the beach and while it will prove to be a very useful tool for beach and surf hunting, it has not bumped my GT out of the box yet. I have been hunting with another hunter with a GT and we have compaired the two detectors side by side and we have not yet found any targets that the GT wasn't going to find if the coil went over it. We have had about 30 plus hours hunting side by side.In that time we have about the same amount of clad he has more silver coins and I have two gold earings and he has 5 gold rings. The ring count is because I can not get too close to the rought surf with the non waterproof wireless headphones, and or I just did not get the coil over them.I have found the machine does chatter when a wave aproaches but you know what causing it.I am not too convinced that the carbon fibre shaft is going to hold up with the sand. I have cleaned the machine well after each use and I can hear the sand grinding away at the shaft if you open or close it. Its not my intention to keep doing this but I have been bringing it in the house to set up programs and its nicer when its shorter!
I am not convinced that its any better than the GT as sold stock with the 11 coil. The GT has so many options available its a hard machine too beat. I hoping that when I can get the bigger coil this will be right up with the GT and the WOT combo. time will tell.

I bought the GT to hunt at the beach and shallow water. I have waterproowed it in a plastic box, and I use a home made backpack, for the control box.
I am very pleased with it , but I have a Troy Shadow x5, as a backup machine, and this is much more sensitive to smaller objects( gold). But the x5 does not like the salt water at all.
So, how sensitive is the CTX to the smaller gold, as small chains, and how does it perform in the salt water , compared to the GT ??

Thanks, Roald.

I have only used it about 60 hrs and Can not make statement as to its finding small gold. I can say that during air test it could not find gold chains but neither could the GT or Excalibur. All the three were able to see the same chains and miss the same chains.So in a sence they compare just the same

Thanks for your inputs BCNJ. It is very helpful for me.Now I feel I can relax with the GT, and forget the CTX for a while.
