Sov gt recovery speed....

Does the sov gt have about the same recovery as in this video????? I think he sweeps a bit fast, but......

The reason i'm asking is I have a gt on the way and just want to know what to expect........ I will be doing lots of testing of when I get it so I will be able to get the most performance out of it.....

I have a lot of small iron on my beaches......

This is a video done by Norfolk Wolf,a famous detectorist from over here in England who recently passed away.He has made many of these videos on a lot of different detectors so that people can compare the recovery speeds and target responses of different targets.Personally i would take them as a very rough guide as you don't know what settings etc he was using on each machine.....my gt certainly has a better recovery speed than that video shows.Like you say,you certainly would'nt want to sweep that fast when amongst iron....it's hardly any wonder it would'nt pick up the cut half. The Gt is'nt known for a fast recovery speed but it will pick up a target closer to a nail than is shown in that video.

Check back a page or two for a recent thread on this. Recovery speed is a NON-ISSUE so long as you use the coil slowly. And, as I said in that other thread, I prefer a slow recovery (reset speed) because I believe it locks onto and sounds off to deep targets better than a fast reset (recovery) machine ever could. That's one of the reasons why some believe (including myself) that there is NO deeper detector on the market than a GT.

Try this test...lay a coin on the ground with a rusty old nail laying so close that they are touching. You'll soon find that with proper coil use on the Sovereign you can easily isolate the coin and ignore the nail. Can you sweep over it like you are launching a golf ball? No, but with proper coil use you shouldn't be doing that anyway.

Also, when you are sweeping over the two targets at once in that the machine is seeing both at the same time...That's when Iron Mask ON on the Sovereign shines. That's when it's up to the machine to ignore the iron and sound off to the non-ferrous target mixed in with the signal. No machine I have ever owned (fast recovery speed or not) has shown me more ability to report the non-ferrrous signal while ignoring the iron mixed in with the signal. Even the fastest recovery speed machines I've ever owned have never got me as many coins laying with iron.
