sov gt question

Ok I traded my MXT in on the Sov. trying to get used to it. my question is after I have it set up with a nice threshold sound and start to swing , my threshold disapears while in motion. Its like silent search even though I am in threshold setting.am I not set up properly? :?

Provided there are no objects in the ground, you have your sensitivity set too high. The threshold drops out when any object is discriminated out.
If the Sov sees too much mineral for the sensitivity setting (probably iron) then you get the null followed by a low buzz.
This is a kind of false caused by dirt. You will also see it from an ubrupt vertical coil movement.
Back off the sensitivity to the point that this does not happen when sweeping a clean spot, or try auto mode until you get used to it.

Yes this is normal as the threshold will null in most case because of any item disc out plus iron. The best is to run with the disc and the notch set all the way counter clockwise and the sensitivity set at auto untill you learn it better as it will try to keep a smoother threshold. Run the iron mask on and swing slow. This is going to be a lot differnt then the MXT was as the MXT you can swing faster, but the GT will have to go slower and listen for those tones of a good target.
It will take a little to get used to the Sovereigns, so have some patience and go slow.
