Sov. Gt Pouch help

I just ordered a Sovereign Gt ...still waiting. in the meantime I'm looking for some ideas on a chest mount like a military case, possibly. (I'm not sure of the size of the unit. Thats why I'm asking for your experiences with this. I'm sure you have it all. Can you send pictures or if not the name of the pouch and I can google it. I did order the minelab one but I may not be happy with it from what I read. Thanks for your imput.
Ron

I own the sovereign GT. and i have the mindlab pouch and comes with a shoulder strap. get your self a belt to put threw the belt loop to wrap around just below your chest. so this way when you bend over to dig it dont swing out in front of you, it can also can be worn on your side..

OK I'll try that. Will this pouch protect you when it rains and what did you cover the speaker with ?? on the gt. I was also looking for other ideas for the pouch to see what people used Thanks for your come back.:

This is in Gary's new book. But I will tell because I actually figured it out before I read the book. Get yourself an extra large raincoat that a chest mount will fit underneath. One with a hood to help to protect the headphones too. Simple as that. I have hunted in the rain like this. The pouch will act as a second defense. As far as the speaker goes I have Joe Patrick's meter mod. So there is a meter where my speaker was. So I don't have to worry about that one.

This is what I use all the time, whether my control box is mounted on the rod or hanging in a pouch. It protects the box completely from salt air. If you want it to be rain protected also, run your headphone cable out the end where the coil cable comes out and secure it really well with some rubber strapping(I use a cut up bicycle tube). The box of bags from Walmart is just a couple of bucks and theres a hundred of them in a box. You can get a lot of hunts out of just one bag before you replace it. these are the 1 gal size.
A bunch of years ago I wasted a detector beach hunting it with no protection, corroded the insides of it. Since then Ive used the plastic bags of one sort or another and these ones fit the best. I can still adjust any of the knobs and move the toggles, they flat out work.

This is a land detector, if its raining stay out of the rain.

OK two good Ideas. I will definitely consider both. I do hunt the beach so I will bag it for sure ! and I better start looking for rain gear. Good deal !!

I used to always put mine in a large ziploc bag while hip or chest mounting. The bag's with the slider work good because they are easier to open and close. Used to poke a hole in the bag for the headphone jack but after doing that for awhile, I got to where I would just open the ziploc, plug the phones in and then close the slider up against the cord. Worked great. Since the ziploc bag is pretty thin, adjustments can be made to the machine while it's closed up in the bag. Plus, during those hot day's, the bag keeps sweat from dripping on the machine and speaker. HH-CC

The Minelab bag is excellent and well designed, try tying a knot in the strap first before hanging it around your neck, this will shorten the strap and the control box will be in just the right position for chest mounting.
The back of the Minelab bag has velcro which helps the bag stick to most outdoor clothing. I use this set up when shallow water hunting with the Sovereign GT in South Florida and on summer water hunting trips to Lake Huron. I always use headphones and find the 2 inch quick release painters blue masking tape is the easiest way to cover the control box speaker and trim the excess tape with a razor blade. You can see my GT speaker covered on the main Minelab website on my Treasure Talk articles on the Sovereign GT. PM or email me if you have any other questions.
Good luck with your Sovereign GT, it really is an awesome metal detector.

HH Gary I have a question about the Killer Bee's head phone (Hornet model) has 150 ohms but the Sovereign gt recommends 32 ohms. How will this affect me...good or bad please explain

I know you are told to buy headphones with the recommended impedance, units of impedance are Ohms and impedance determines how much current will flow when voltage is applied, I use Detectorpro Black widow and Grey Ghost and Sunray Pro headphones depending on where I am metal detecting and they all work perfectly fine.

I'm trying to understand if 150 ohms gives better target detection then the 32 ohms.

Good question, I would think not as both the 150 and 32 ohms headphones when used on the Sovereign GT will be receiving the same voltage. I chose my headphones with design, features, comfort and the ability to cut out external noises, wind, waves etc in mind over the Ohms rating. Hopefully someone more electronically savvy can help you with a definitive answer to this question.
