Sov GT mounting bracket

I am thinking of buying a Sov GT
Has anyone had any trouble with the control box mounting brackets
its just that to me they look a bit fragile

I had one break already, the control box fell off a couple time too.I agree the brackets suck. I was able to fabricate an industructable bracket for my elite . But yea the factory bracket is cheesy at best .....dont let it stop you from buying the unit its a powerful land unit and top notch on the beach ........good luck

Because it's thicker than the V clip system and the control box is farther away from the stem there's a lot more flex in it, giving the illusion of a loose fit. I had an old XS plastic box, with a V clip moulded on. I just cut around the clip bit about an inch all round and superglued it to the GT box. Not recommended if you might wish to sell your detector at a later date, but it works for me. I can now use V clips which I prefer.

I use my GT 3-4 times a week during the Summer for roughly 4 hours at a time and usually twice a week during the Winter Months also for roughly 4 hours at a time. In the year and a 3 months that I have had my GT I have had no problems with the GT's mounting bracket. I have had the detector fall out of the bracket twice but I found that was caused by me not getting the rear clip fully inserted into the detector before snapping it into the release clip. It has never happened since. I like the new mounting system better than the old V-clip method except that it adds more weight to the detector. JMHO

I have had several Elites and several GTs and sometimes it takes a little to get the control box on, but once it is on it seems to stay on and only when I have dropped it that the control box come off. Never had a bracket break either and I too find it was better than the V clips.

I must of got three bad ones then ,the ones I had were black with two real small cheap rivets holding them together ,its not so much they snapped its more they are so wobbly,I guess i aint a big fan of plastic to plastic on something that is designed to be taken off and on ........I think they are cheesey, glad they work for some folks.I perfeer to know it aint gonna be wiggly or a potential problem ,and i just dont really care for plastic used in a structual manner.......

using the digimater mounted on top of the S-1 box and never had a problem. They seem to work just fine... besides, the cables hold the boxes in place in the clips on mine so they would not fall out even if they were loose.
