Sov Elite or X-Terra 50

Hi,

Can someone give a comparison of these two detectors? If you had a choice, what would you get and why.

Thanks,
Ericdj

For weight factor the X-terra.
For pleasure of use the X-terra.
For just as many finds the X-Terra.

Jerry.

I don't have an Elite but I have a GT and X50. I have only used them together (same trip) in my test garden and at the beach (salt). The soil in my garden is not very good but better than the beach. The two units are not very much alike. Not sure what your criteria for good is. I find that the GT is deeper. This may be different in good soil and/or with items being buried a long time. The X50 is easier to swing and fun to use. I have never used a PI but feel that the Sov and Excal will work better at the ocean beach than most machines. Of course others will disagree.

The X-Terra 50 is lighter, can swing it faster and probably more fun to use and understand. The Sovereign will ID better, go deeper and separate the targets better.
For a fun detector that don't need a lot of learning the X-Terras are good, but for the real serious I feel the Sovereign would be better myself.

One factor to remember is that 90% of all finds are in the top 12 inches and thats no problem for the Terra.

I have an Explorer which is about as deep as you will ever get with a detector and for the last 2 months it sits in the corner looking sad.

Jerry.
