Sov battery pod

Does anyone know if the 2 flat contacts on GT and Elite battery packs are available somewheres other than thru minelab? I have a couple of battery packs that have surface corrosion on the contacts. Better yet, is there a sealer that can be used if I just sandpaper the contacts off, something to reseal the metal yet not disrupt the electric going through it?

A little more info please.

Alkaline or NiMH batteries.

If NiMH pack, maybe you have had a cell leak inside the pack causing the corrosion. This would require a repack or possibly complete replacement.

If it is an Alkaline pack or if the corrosion is just "Surface" then clean with some fine abrasive paper or similar then smear a very light coat of petroleum jelly or "Vaseline" over the contacts. This will slow down recurrence of the corrosion and will not affect the conductivity of the contacts. If in the future the coating becomes hard or sticky, remove with a piece of cloth dampened with Zippo fluid or kerosene and re-apply.

Best of luck

Thanks Pete. These are alkaline packs Im talking about and its just surface corrosion, already took the pods apart. I know if I sand it down it will come back thats why I was looking for a sealer or possible replacement. Ive got some dielectric grease, probably would serve the same suggestion you made about the vaseline.
Thanks much!

Have you ever used noalox? Its used on electrical connectors and seems to fit your situation. Naval Jelly might seal it.

Dew Ive never heard of noalox but have heard of naval jelly. Thanks for those suggestions, I will look them up and see if they might work.
