Hello to all on this message board,,,Jim Redhawk, I finally left a response and answer about the bigfoot if you would like to review it. ,,,I too would like to see this board grow.,,,I have 2 other top-of-the-line detectors but prefer my MXT for over-all detecting ability and I use the Bigfoot coil to enhance that ability,,,Have done fairly well since I started detecting 15 months ago,,,I would like to see more of the finds here on this board,,,don't be shy,,,I am retired and go detecting quite often,,,my oldest coin is an 1849 lg. cent and have found almost 50 rings now, almost $400.00 in change and lots of other cool stuff,,, Hope to see more posts here in the future,,,truly HH...Lon

Hi Short Digger,,,I live near the city of Alton, IL. Where do you live?...HH Lon

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you're having a blast with your MXT and the Big Foot. They both compliment each other. Alton is a fun town. Fast Eddies is a great place to have a bite to eat and a cold brew. It's a very old town also. Happy hunting from Eureka, IL.

Wow! All this talk about southern IL makes me long for the area where I grew up: west (across the river) of Chester IL and Ste. Genevieve MO. I remember so many old abandoned homesteads littering "them thar hills" as a youth. How I would like to go MD'ing there now!!

If anyone ever has a desire to search Ste. Genevieve County, I know a few great potential spots.....and the greatest arrowhead collecting spot in the world!!

Lon:

How far are you from Larwenceville?

There is a place called Birds at the intersection of 10 and Hwy 1 just
a few miles north of Larwrenceville.

I found Birds listed at www.ghosttowns.com as a ghost town. Actually it still has about 30 people still living there.

I went down there to visit last week.

In 1997 Birds was devestated by a flood. FEMA bought out the damaged old houses and tore them down. A few old buildings remain. There are two churches there and we're welcome to MD anywhere there are open spaces where a house once stood.

The Mayor there is Norman Butcher and old man of 80 years. He told me I could MD there as much as I wanted but its way to far for me to go.

If you have some time some weekend, travel on over and check it out.

Regards
Robert
