Southern California Detector having difficult time finding LEGAL places to MD

/\/\0rph3u5

I live in the "greater" Los Angeles, and every time I think of a place to MD, I get the "you can't do that here" speech. Anyone down here know the legitimate places? There used to be a book available on the laws involved, but now it's out of print. It was so much easier to do this in Oregon and Alaska, but I was born and raised here and I'm not moving...

Thanks for the input...

If it is a state park (back country or beach) I was told they can take your detector. City parks are iffy, depends on the city, same with the schools...

Check with the Parks Department and the School District to see what kind ( if any ) restrictions exist and if a permit may be required. I can't believe that all public places are off limits. Glad I don't live there anymore.

go to municode.com and check for local laws on metal detecting . I have found that most cities have no ordinance on metal detecting. Most states have a law that allows cities to adopt a law but most never do. State and federal parks you can not but most city parks you can.

I have MD'd the heck out of Huntington beach (schools, beach, parks, strips), Muietta, and Temecula. No problems. Don't be coy. Roll up, hop out like you own the place and get to swinging. It's still good down there Bill. You saw my treasure pile from my trip there last year. Here is is again. As you can see there is plenty of treasure in the South-land for the taking.:detecting::thumbup:

Thanks for the reply...
Also, that Merc on the bottom looks pretty nice!

Thanks. And believe it or not that is another Merc to the right. It was in a burned out creamery in Murrietta.

I'm in San Diego, you can join a club, i'm doing mostly parks, park and rides, and places that i don't think i get to much static
theres is enough areas to keep me busy

Ah good old Murrieta. I've got some pics somewhere I took from my father-in-law's plane showing Murrieta when it was just horse ranches instead of the Yuppie paradise it is now. I liked it much better then. Have a dear lady friend there who lives there, is 93 years young, and owns a bunch of land that is currently worth $32 million. Her boys are going to be filthy rich when she kicks the bucket.
