I'm guessing no retailers would carry this item. Minelab is obviously no help as they don't deal in parts at all, at least as far as the average shmoe is concerned. The one I need is for my alkaline pad (the threaded portion of mine is riddled with cracks and I don't expect it to remain viable much longer), but I suppose it would make sense to obtain the one for the rechargeable pod, assuming the caps are at all different between the two? It's not clear to me precisely what gives the standard pod clearance up to 200 feet, while the alkaline pod is only good for 10. Is the difference just in the cap? They seem fairly similar, although I haven't compared the two in quite some time. If anyone knows a source or could shed some light, I'd appreciate it!
A couple more Excal questions, if I may....
Are the Excal battery pods completely interchangeable across the entire series? I've got one from the "sword" series, as well as one from an Excal 1000.
I'm thjnking of getting my "sword" model up and running again which, as you may or may not know, Minelab will NOT service at this point. I know it boils down to the differences on the board, primarily the switch from 4 to 5 wires, and the fact they may no longer have certain parts. I know they could do the work I need, but it's pointless to ask from what I've gathered talking to customer service. Is there some guru out there regularly working on the "sword" models? The only thing mine needs (I have no way to pressure test, so it may need more attention) is a new coil, and I've always thought of putting a Sunray S-12 on there. Being just a hair more $$$ than a 10" tornado, it seems like the S-12 is a better choice, but I've been out of the coil game for awhile.
Last one....should I bother putting my 8" SeaSearch (horseshoe shaped) coil on ebay??? I'm pretty sure it's still in great shape, although it currently has a relatively short cable with a connector on the other end, from the days when I made it switchable with a WOT.......
thanks!
