Today me and Luke decided to try our luck one more time. It was minus 10 degrees and there were some painfull winds.
But we didn't cared since there was some free water left. we tryed two different places without mutch success i must admit.
The first place produced only a silver dime and a few pennies from the 40's plus a junk ring. At the second place (Oka's national park), i only managed a about 3 dollars in modern clad. Luke got a watch and a little more money but that's about it for us.
At the end of the day, just walking was getting difficult since our wadders were freezing solid. We had hot poutch in our gloves, so our fingers weren't frozen. In fact, all in all i was pretty comfortable today.
But the ice crust on the scoop handle was a major pain. At the end of the day, i had more than a quarter of inch thinck of ice pretty mutch all over. And the ice was forming rapidly on the lake and i'm pretty sure you might be able to walk on the surface where we stood today.
If only we had a decent place to hunt, we wouldn't mind too mutch, but since the most interresting targets are under the ice crust...guess we'll have to admit it's over for this year
Here we are at the end of the day :

And here is something Minelab probably never taught about when they were designing their excalibur ... extreme detection. The excalibur worked perfectly as if i was in the middle of july !
