Sounds a lot like last call for us :(

Today me and Luke decided to try our luck one more time. It was minus 10 degrees and there were some painfull winds.
But we didn't cared since there was some free water left. we tryed two different places without mutch success i must admit.
The first place produced only a silver dime and a few pennies from the 40's plus a junk ring. At the second place (Oka's national park), i only managed a about 3 dollars in modern clad. Luke got a watch and a little more money but that's about it for us.
At the end of the day, just walking was getting difficult since our wadders were freezing solid. We had hot poutch in our gloves, so our fingers weren't frozen. In fact, all in all i was pretty comfortable today.
But the ice crust on the scoop handle was a major pain. At the end of the day, i had more than a quarter of inch thinck of ice pretty mutch all over. And the ice was forming rapidly on the lake and i'm pretty sure you might be able to walk on the surface where we stood today.
If only we had a decent place to hunt, we wouldn't mind too mutch, but since the most interresting targets are under the ice crust...guess we'll have to admit it's over for this year :(

Here we are at the end of the day :

And here is something Minelab probably never taught about when they were designing their excalibur ... extreme detection. The excalibur worked perfectly as if i was in the middle of july !

Martin you guys are allot tougher than I am. It would have been over for me when I woke up and it said 10 degrees on the thermometer I would have never left home. But you must remember I got sunburned today at 82 degree. We had a large parking lot sale to raise funds for the Kids at a local school. HH and stay warm.

Hey Martin, guess I have it easy here, Some ice inland a bit but the ocean beach hunting is alway there. So how do you pick anything up with those gloves? Off and on for each find? If I dress like you two I would have been fine except for the Sand Blasting today. Well good luck and keep wishing for a January thaw. When ya love something its hard to quit.... Now go stand by the fire!!!:hot::thumbup:

You guys are amazing. Had a little dose of ya'll's cold weather in Minnesota this week, but I was high and dry, out of the water goose hunting up there. It was between a high of 20 and a low of 5. That's dang cold for a reb too, lemme tell ya and I was not IN the water! You guys are mighty tough in my book! I HATE COLD WEATHER!

We added long neoprene gloves to our arsenal. We also hold a small heat pack in each hands in order not to freeze our fingers. I usually feel cold fingers whenever i start, but after a while...either tey freeze solid :) or the blood tends to better circulate and after that i'm real comfy all day. Only problem is when you break for lunch... usually the gloves gets a bit wet inside du to transpiration... not easy to put them back on. I got to buy a second pair to switch after lunch. But that will probably be for next year...we just added 12 inches of snow today :(
