sound when laying detector down

When I lay my AT down to dig Target it bell tones and show 81.
Do you think something is wrong with it.
In Yuma ground is hot 91

Could be that the ground is that littered with buried trash? Does it happen every time you put it down ?

Make sure your machine is ground balanced properly and try turning down the sensitivity a few notches at a time........if what you say is true and your ground is HOT it may be causing the AT to false. In some areas I hunt my machines sensitivity is turned down to about 3 sometimes 2 notches........salt water beaches/wet sand........and high electrical areas. I still find plenty of good targets and no noise or falsing to bother me. 80% of the time my sensitivity is on max. Hope this helps.
Cheers!

Does it all the time.
will try lowering sensitivity .
Run it high now,wide open

Had the first AT PRO 's that came out did same.
Sent it in to Garrett's for a fix and has been good now.
There was a problem with many of the first batch of detectors
that were sent out.
They were super sensitive to any bump of the coil.

That could be your issue right there ... having your sensitivity maxed-out. Good luck !

I always reduce my sensitivity to 2 bars when I lay it down while I dig. When I'm done, I turn it back to max sens and keep hunting.
