Sound of a Minelab Excalibur when the batteries go

Waterdog

Well-known member
I have had a Minelab Excalibur for many years and never heard it. Or at least I do not think I have. The sound of a battery on it's way out or a dead battery.
I had a younger guy come up to me the other day and ask me " How do you know when the battery is getting low or need to change it as there is no meter in a Excalibur"? "Every time I head out to the water I think I am going to have a dead battery" I never heard it and could not answer the guy.
I looked around on the net and could not find the answer to this question.

If its like the sov gt it will give a hard hit every minute or two and when you swing back over where you got the hard hit you get nothing..

Yes. And it's VERY ANNOYING. At first it will you jump out of your skin. Then it becomes further annoying in that .... like "waiting for the other shoe to drop" you end up dreading the periodic BBLEEEOONGGSS that come every 30 or 60 seconds then. I kind of wished Minelab would have made a less annoying ear-drum-breaking tone or sound or whatever , to accomplish this.

Anyone else here annoyed with this alert system too ? :)

When that happens I just turn it off, they could not make it milder alarm just a blast then 30 seconds later another. Mine did it the other day with both batteries, the stock battery voltage was 10.7 then the lipo set it off at 12.4 volts. Good to know the lipo sets the alarm off....
