sound both ways?

On a good target will the exterrra generally make a good sound both ways when you sweep back an forth?
not a beep scratch beep scratch sound.not talking about coins on edge just nice round even tones back an forth.....snuffy

A coin will not always give a tone both ways. If there is no trash close by it will most every time. But if there is a slight piece of trash close by it will give a slight chirp sometimes or just beep one way. And a lot of times will beep both ways. The size of the trash and kind of trash next to it will determine the beep most of the time. Before I started using a pinpointer a few years ago I didn't realize how mush trash was next to the coins I dig. Sometimes there will be there or more small tiny pieces of iron in the same hole as the coin. In my experience if it gives the slightest high tone there is 90% of the time something besides iron in the hole.
That being said with no trash close by and coin laying flat it should give a tone both ways.

i agree with 7centsworth, the only thing i would add is this. if you are getting a coin id number in one direction but it doesnt produce that going the other way, start slowly circling around the target while still swinging. sometimes changing angles will leave out the trash and clean up the number. also tighten up your swing to just a few inches back and forth. thats my 2 cents worth.

Thank-you for the response!
I have been testing my 705 over frozen ground,so have had no chance to dig targets.
I am use to analog detector,,ads2,,that in the past you could be 90%sure that if you got a cliped signal one way
it was junk.I would set it with a nickel and go..right now I don't even want to think about looking at my target IDs
just beep and dig:bouncy:.....snuffy

I used to only dig two way signals. But once I started digging the one way and the blips my finds went up. So did my trash count too. But if you ain't digging trash you are missing the goods.

It's easy for me to say dig it. 95% of the places I hunt are open fields, vacant lots, etc. I can pretty much stand upright and use a shovel and no one gives a hoot. Bend and recover then scoot the dirt back in the hole.
If you are getting on your knees to dig and recover it will definitely suck to be you. But, those nice clean beeps, one way, can pay off nicely sometimes.

Dig iffy signals , most people don't, in hunted out sites most good targets of any age are long gone, I live in the UK and would think in America, most parks are hunted out , don't walk round a target if iron is present at one point it will disc out your target, most of my best finds have come from terrible target response , try this at home place small nail at the side of good target, IE coin ,walk round studie target response , don't just rely on your meter ,your ears will be your best weapon, good set of headphones, is a must
