Sort of off subject but I did an Excalibur Modification....

After a couple hours at the beach Tues. my arm was tired and wrist numb. The thing has always felt way too heavy. Back home I got to thinking about the straight shafts with the control/battery mount behind the elbow. I had a hip mount that I got with the machine but stopped using since everyone said my cable would eventually fail.

Long story short I put the hip mount sticking out the back of the shaft and added a new arm cup. I can not believe the difference! It feels like a new machine! The balance is perfect - puts the weight on your arm instead of having to hold up the weight. It just glides around almost effortlessly! I have not tried it in the water yet but I am sure it will be much better. Added bonus - I can put the extra coiled wire way up the shaft next to the hand grip (less resistance in the water).

This is just an FYI post for anyone in the situation that I was... like the machine but hate the weight. Try it, you will be shocked at what the balance does.

This was an easy modification. The hip mount is PVC pipe and all I had to do was drill/cut a hole in the top cap and slide it onto the end of the shaft. It fit perfectly! I drilled two holes through the mount, shaft and arm cup. The new arm cup is a PVC pipe fitting that I cut. I did have to notch the arm cup to fit the hip mount, this also gave the arm cup some support. Two stainless screws hold it in place. Now all I need is a good time to go find goodies with my "new" machine!
