Here's an old ad with a pic of Charles Garrett from the 70's.
 
That thing had to weigh a ton. I couldn't imagine swinging that for more than 5 minutes or so. Just how deep do you think that coil went, John ?
 
I have no idea, but I bet it wasn't very hot on coin sized objects. It could probably pick up a pop can at 4-5 feet. Pretty scary looking ,eh!:rofl:
