Went relic hunting around an old 30's coalmine office. It was knocked down. Found nothing of value, but noticed 4 car batteries some slob dumped off. Than I remembered a conversation at the bar the other day. Batteries are going for $6 each at the recyclers. Picked em up this morning, sold for $24. Not bad for eyeballing.

You did something good for the environment and got money for it.

Yep had my eye open for a few years on the batteries . 7 dollars for a car battery around my part of the country. I do pressure washing for a job, and alot of real estate companies call to wash a vacant house , seems like theres allways a car battery lying around the vacant house. Picked up a big solid brass chandelier on the side of the road today ways over 5 pounds. Its spring time and I am cleaning up at the scrap yard. Some Dum arse idiot stole over a hundred bronze vases from a cemetary a few weeks ago, then took them to the scrap yard the next day , HA busted idiots. I think we metal detectors do a positive for the enviroment , because of all the crap that we find in the ground that is no good for enviroment.
