One thing I learned fairly quickly in my previous career when photographing models was that the higher the angle from which I took the photo, the shorter the person looked. It's basically a matter of perspective...
A great rule of thumb which served me well is to get down and aim for the belly button area. This will give the model(s) more *stature* and pretty much ensure a better pic. Try it. Hope this helps!
