Something to be aware of

Perusing one of the forums I follow, a thread came up where a fella had bought the Cibola and couldn't get any depth out of it. Turned out that he had managed to put the 4 pin plug in upside down and that definitely was not the way the Cibola is designed. It then dawned on me that while I can see how that might happen, one advantage of the older 5 pin plug is it's nearly impossible to put together wrong. Just passing this along as another thing to double check when things don't seem right.

That's good to know. I had no ideal that you could plug one in upside down. I guess you have to use some force to make it happen.

I will have to check the coil connectors on my stock and 5.75" coils for my Tejon, but I am pretty sure that they can only fit one way. But I suppose anything is possible if you use enough persuasion.

They are keyed. Only fit one way.

SkiWhiz,
Is that a picture of you at the county fair?
Cheers,

They are keyed but will, if you force them interlock. Not sure if the connections will connect though...

Well, the fella that had the problem managed to do it. The detector still worked, but 2 to 4 inches was the maximum depth.

Got to be a lot of force to make it slide when the key isn't lined up. I just moved coils around on the Cibola and Tejon to see how they felt with the key not in line and well ... kind of hard for me to imagine how hard the connectors had to be pushed to force them with the key out of line.
