Something is wrong with my Deus

Well guys, it seems my 1.5 years old Xp Deus has started to act very strangely, because when i turn the machine on the remote keeps flashing random id numbers and the machine makes strange noises. :stretcher:

Also when i place a coin in the round or test it in air the coil doent always pick up the signal coming from the coin or the sound will start to crackle, i suspect that the coil has become faulty and needs to go to the warranty repair. My friend also have a Deus so i can do some testing and better pinpoint the problem, but i can manage just fine for while without my trusty Deus, because i have spare detector to detect with.

Well thats an alarming post, so pardon me if butt in.
Does the machine work with only the headphones? If so, the remote is suspect. If not, did you inspect the coil with the cover off? The cover fits quite snug, but a random sliver of junk could have slipped in. I say this to include the occasional friend who might point a coin under the cover as a joke. ( I hope nobody would mess with your settings, but that would be my second guess)
Keep us updated and good luck.

The strange interference sound also occurs when i try to operate the machine alone with the remote or only with the headphones, so i dont think both the remote or the headphones are faulty at the same time. There is no dirt inside the coil cover and i have re-downloaded the 2.0 program, so all the machine settings are in factory preset and also lowering the sensitivity doesnt calm the machine at all.

I'm experiencing the same problem, how you happened to you, when I installed the second coil 28x34, The exchange rate between the standard and large coil, the deus has become unstable, Same problem when I changed the standard 1.0 with the new 2.0 coil. Finally, I did the same defect when I turned on the headset first and then the central unit.
I think may be a conflict between the setting of the coil on headphones with the central unit, Currently, I have resolved by reprogramming the codes of the coils and start in sequence before the central unit, and when it sees recognized the coil, then turn on the headphones.
I hope that this information will solve the problem.

I have always turned on the remote first and then the headphones and still it will not stop chattering.

Did you try going to another area? Maybe a new cell tower or a neighbor just got some weird electronics.
Deus is pretty stable with EMi, but you never know.

My Deus started to chatter and making weird noices in three places i have detected before, so i dont think it is that. I just bought the large coil, so i can test the operation of my Deus with a different coil and if the small coil is malfunctioning, i still have the big coil to detect with.

My big Deus coil arrived and i tested the machine with it, the Chatter and constantly showing id numbers where gone in a flash and the machine seemed to operate normally, guess i have to send the small coil to the warranty repair now. Oh well, i now have the bigger coil, guess i have to hit some plowed fields now.:clapping:

That's good news... well, that its not the control box or something. Good luck with the new coil. :)

The small coil is on it's way to the warranty repair, i hope it is repaired sooner than later.

The coil could start doing veird things if you turn it on in your car or anywhere near metal..

Duh..I know these things for crying out loud. The coil repair could take up to two months at worst case scenario and when they pinpoint the problem, i will let you know.

Two months for a coil repair? Hmmm. that doesn't sound good. Hope it is quicker than that. I just ordered a large coil but not because I expected to need a backup.

Well, my 9" coil has been away for repairs about 5 months and apparently the Xp supplier in Europe or Xp have done nothing to fix it yet, maybe they tossed the coil in to some dark corner and forget all about it.:ranting: So i send a very disappointed email to my metal detector dealer in Finland and they are gonna compensate for my long waiting time by sending me a brand new 9" coil and a charging clip, so at least my dealer is doing something right.:clapping:

Xp can keep my faulty coil now and hopefully nothing else will break anytime soon.:veryangry:

As I stated in another post: It seems XP is a company with delivery and customer satisfaction issues. 5 Months? That is just terrible. I hope things turn around for XP.

As I stated in "your other post" . . . you seem to be one ticked off hombre when it comes to XP of late. Understand you had a Deus, sold it to buy a CTX 3030 and now have another Deus but you seem a bit jaded about the company.

Customer satisfaction issues????? You might want to check with ANYONE that has had issues here in the United States as problems have been taken care of within 2 business days even if it means replacing something broken with a new piece. Any person I have talked to that went to their dealer or directly to the service center was immediately taken care of. I have dealt with service issues on detectors for nearly 3 decades as a dealer and very few companies have taken ownersip and resolved issues like XP has.

As far as overseas dealers, I would be shocked if the 5 month delay was intentional or what XP (Alain) would have accepted or tolerated. If someone is not getting satisfaction - and even 3 weeks for a repair is not acceptable - then contact the factory and see what is happening and if they can help.

And your comment about delivery issues . . . . . guess you would rather have a product released that has a high infant mortality / failure rate? Plenty of companies do that and suffer as a result . . . . remember the coil issue with the Whites flagship V3i? They were swapping them out as fast as they could get them in the mail until the winding issue was identified and corrected. There has been no production issue with the detector itself other than a backlog due to the huge demand . . . accessories are coming as is the new software but last anyone checked, these items are not impacting the current line fo detectors from working.

You mentioned in your "other post" that you were ticked off and frustrated in the delays XP has had delivering accessories on dates that they themselves never committed to . . . . personally I am happy with the performance of my Deus and see the new items as simply making a first-rate detector that much better

I totally agree!!! The Deus is as far as I am concerned a great and reliable product. When I hunt I put this detector to work, constantly hitting brush and rocks with the coil and I haven't had any problems with the machine and its capabilities are amazing. Thanks XP for the great product.

I now have the new Xp deus 9" coil and two bonus items, a Minelab find pouch and a charging clip, so the case is closed.

I had a display problem on my Xp Deus and sent it in for repair. I got a new controller back in four days. I am very happy with the service department at Detector Electronics.
