Something I thought of yesterday....

I just recently acquired a laptop, in addition to the digital camera I bought.

I had a brain fart, and decided to act on it today. I took the laptop down to my impromptu photo studio, turned it on, and then started setting up for a photo shoot on a silver dime I recently found. I wanted to play with changing some of the settings, find the best focal length, different color backgrounds, etc.

I was able to capture some images, then remove the SD card, and stick the card into the card-reader built in to the laptop. Then, I could open the images up to see what they'd look like on the pc.

Anyone else use a laptop in their photo studio, or have a desktop pc there?

The screens on the back of digital cameras usually do not display all the information in a file visually. It is good to always review your images on a computer before making a judgement on the image. Or you can shoot your images and have them display the curve when you review them on the back of the camera.

I can connect my camera to my computer and take shots via the computer. Obviously you need a tripod for this but you wouldn't need to even touch the SD card this way.

BUT, I have to install the Easyshare software onto that computer, at least, according to the manual that came with the camera. I'm not really that thrilled about the software. I prefer to use the software I already have, as that's what I know how to use.

I'm not sure if I can actually have the computer capture the image through the camera or not.

Yup I use my laptop along with my Mac. In fact I purchased a power converter that plugs into my car and I take my laptop with me in my car. Then I can go over my pictures in the car before I leave from where I was shooting.

Sometimes I will go for a drive say, 300km round trip to take pictures and it helps to look at your pics rather than go home only to find out you need to go back.

I had one for my old laptop, but I just looked at the list of laptops the universal adapter will work with doesn't include my new one. So, I need to start looking. I've also got a lot of research material for local hunting sites on my laptop, and can use that when I'm out in the field.
