something a detectorist in New York must not miss...

Berliner

... is what I am looking for!

Hello everyone!

I am a german detectorist and have been swinging detectors for the last 20 years. I am really into the hobby (land+water detecting, bottle-digging, etc) and I need some help:

As I will be in New York City for the last two weeks in july I was wondering if any of you would be so kind to give me some tips or information about places/museums/shops etc that I should not miss beeing in town. I mean, besides the normal tourist-stuff. Places or events that are somehow connected to our hobby. As I said, I am really into the hobby! :bouncy:

For example, if I got it right, there is one MD-shop in Brooklyn, which I will definitely visit to buy a bundle of books and TH-Magazines (we haven't any good ones in Germany)... Furthermore I will spend time in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the section for costumes (lots of buttons and buckles!!!) and in the section for arms and armour. I think, you get the idea.

So, what else is there in the line of shops, little or big museums, exhibitions, events etc that I must not miss?

I will be located in Jersey City close to Manhattan and I am limited to public transportation.

Your help would really be apreciated and if any of you are planing to come to Berlin, I would be very happy to help you with any information.

Thank you very much and hh!

Chris

Does NYC have a museum of natural history ? That would be my first tourist destination..

Hi Dave,

yes, the American Museum of Natural History is on the list, even though its not exactly related to our hobby...

Thanks for your replay!
