Hunting one of my spots yesterday didn't take long to notice the absence of new drops. Than I came up on a bouncing nic signal.
When I went to cut a plug to my surprise there was already one there. Neatest one I ever saw not a crumb of dirt showing. Trouble is someone didn't go deep enough. A few inches more layed a red stained nickle a good 6 inches down. He didn't get everything tho. 36 coins including 9 of those deep nickels & 2 pouches of alum. trash. If this guy keeps hunting hes only going going to get better. This makes for some tough hunting! Oh well. Bring it on. Got to hand it to him tho he sure can cut a clean plug.

At least he can cut a plug, and gives up easily on targets! Scatter some rotten zincs to keep him occupied!

During this past winter I hit a local city park three or four different times. The majority of coins that I found were 4 or more inches deep. Only found one silver. I could not get it straight in my mind why I was not finding anything that was not at least four inches deep until a gentleman who hangs out at the park came up to me and told me that he was surprised at the number of coins that I was digging as some guy had been all over the park less than a month before (I suspect that it was a few months) and had dug a lot of coins. That is when the light switch got turned on and I knew what had happened. Entry level detector had beat me to the shallow stuff. Two nice silver rings also joined the number of dollars of clad that I found.

I have come across some old timers in their 80's, who told me they hunt every day to supplement their income, in other words, they hunt for clad so they can eat. They aren't happy when another detectorist is in the field. I usually introduce myself if I see a person swinging in the field. I tell them the clad is all yours, I'm only interested in the deep oldies, which they don't dig.

The one guy swings an old beat up Whites in a pendulum style swing. My guess is that's the only way his old worn out self will let him...kind of sad.....hope I'm not looking at a future me.

Yeah, well I'm not encouraging any more locals to get into this hobby. Got my brother hooked and it's kinda funny him telling me about this park near me he found. He lives about 9 miles north of me and I'm bout ready to through the encroachment flag. Got a couple of others floating around so I'll be eating beans this winter. Hey you give a newbe a Ace250 or an Compadre and it's all but over till they cool down.

who ever it is I am proud of his plugs he is doing darn good if he fooled you , good to know dont worry he wont get it all .
