I'm very interested in a different set of headphones for detecting. I know there are maybe a dozen or more out there. I have the Audio 200 headphones from KellyCo. Are there better out there? Here's what I would like someone to do for information purposes. Post a poll with all of them listed and let me see what the majority prefers. I would do it, but do not have any idea how many there are available. Thanks so very much in advance to whoever does this.

SunRay Gold Pro
RATPhones
Whites Wireless Spectra (Vision/Spectra V3 only)

I hear lots of good things in the Killer B headphones.

Use the search feature as headphone topics come up now and then - might go way back as this has been a long running question.

I was one that always told members just buy a cheap set of phones. I used Radio Shack phones for detecting. I got a pair of Black Widows the end of last summer. I have been using them since. A few days ago it looked like rain so took out my Radio Shack phones because didn't care if they got wet. Well the sounds were so bad I couldn't believe it. I didn't know there was such a difference in good phones and the cheap ones. The sounds were sicking from those cheap phones. It sounded like I was in a barrel and the tones were awful sounding. People are really missing out with a cheap pair of headphones. The back ground noise was really bad also. I could hear everything going on around me. Very distracting while trying to hear those soft tones.
I am not saying to buy Black Widows but get a good pair of phones and you will notice the difference. My next phones and back up phones will be Rat or Killer B. Don't want to spend soooo much on the next phones. I will not get a pair of cheap ones anymore.....Z

I've tried Gray Ghost, Sunray Pro gold, Rat, and the Black Widow headphones. All of them I liked except my Rat headphones. They just seem too mellow sounding for my taste. I really like the Sunray headphones but sometimes they bother my ears if I've been out more than 6 hours. The most comfortable fitting for my ears during a long outing are the Black Widows. The only problem with the Black Widows is that they are pretty bulky but they keep out any excessive noise and in my opinion they are as good as (if not a tad better) than any of the other top of the line head phones.

One thing for sure is that if your not using good head phones your passig up some good digs. Bite the bullet and upgrade to a better pair.

i have a pair of jolly rogers...i really like them...lifetime warranty,good crisp sound,adj volume and a price of 69.00.

I have a set of killer bees. I really like them they are clear sounding . I have killer b original and they have a lifetime warranty.

:biggrin:I like the Killer Bees:super:, crisp sound and comfortable, the "other junk brand" that came with the Sov collects dust in the closet. Spend the money on a good pair of head phones, If you buy cheap ones:thumbdown:you get poor sound, improper fit, cable not staying looped, internal cable breakage, and very little warranty.

All of the high end quality head phones are designed for the ridders of hard detecting:thumbup:.

I have the RAT and the Sun Ray Pro Golds. I like both and use both. I prefer the tones on the Rats. Sounded mellow at first to me. I got used to them and really like them. Both are very nice phones, Beale.

I use Sennheiser HD280PRO headphones. I spent several years working on soundboards and fell in love with the Sennheiser sound. I also have a really large(8.25 hat size) head and they adjust to fit me without falling off.

Wow thanks guys for all the info on different kinds of headphones. I thought I would get the Rat phones and now when I look at all the posts you guys sure have given me much more options and price variations.
Appreciate the info......Z

I use the Black Widow because I have tinitius (ringing in the ears) they are one of the very best with mono and stereo, limiter (very important) and seperate volumn controls. They really keep out the noise. Expensive yes! Worth it? Yes!

When you get tired of those getto-blaster phones this summer, try on a pair of jvc gummys,$9.96 at walmart,or at least keep a pair in your pocket for back up.These lightweight phones have super strong cords, rubber coated rain proof, can hear faint signals due to tiny speaker in ear canal, not hot, no sweat,no weight, can talk to others, hear surroundings, low power drain,getto-blasters take more power,no parts to tear up!.You guy's have such an issue with headphones!.Chuck.
