SO. I was hunting a couple weeks ago at a site that I've been working on for months. Now this site should have almost NO metal of any kind except that which I'm seeking and maybe the occaisional stray bullet from hunters. I had been running the TF-900 and had a couple spots where I got signals but I was having such a time with the detector that I just wasn't sure what I could trust or not. Admittedly, it was my first time running that machine and it's VERY sensitive. After poking around a bit I decided to fire up the AT and run back over a couple areas where I had hits just for grins and to see if the AT sniffed anything out. Well, I got a signal! It was kinda weak and a high tone, with a TID between no reading at all and highish 80's. Now I was hopeful to maybe find a relic related to the folks who's trail I'm chasing, and my interpretation of the signal was that it must be a small target-WRONG! I'll just mention that the target remains unrecovered! After about a half hour with the ROCK BAR in that clay, I was running out of light and had to quit for another day. Here's the hole about 2/3's of the way excavated. I finally quit at just over knee deep and still no target! I'm 6'3" for what it's worth. To add insult to injury I had to find a suitable bunch of very large rocks to cover the hole with..just more work next time I'm out.
Yes Virginia, the AT Pro is a very deep detector.
