Somebody say something about depth with the AT?

SO. I was hunting a couple weeks ago at a site that I've been working on for months. Now this site should have almost NO metal of any kind except that which I'm seeking and maybe the occaisional stray bullet from hunters. I had been running the TF-900 and had a couple spots where I got signals but I was having such a time with the detector that I just wasn't sure what I could trust or not. Admittedly, it was my first time running that machine and it's VERY sensitive. After poking around a bit I decided to fire up the AT and run back over a couple areas where I had hits just for grins and to see if the AT sniffed anything out. Well, I got a signal! It was kinda weak and a high tone, with a TID between no reading at all and highish 80's. Now I was hopeful to maybe find a relic related to the folks who's trail I'm chasing, and my interpretation of the signal was that it must be a small target-WRONG! I'll just mention that the target remains unrecovered! After about a half hour with the ROCK BAR in that clay, I was running out of light and had to quit for another day. Here's the hole about 2/3's of the way excavated. I finally quit at just over knee deep and still no target! I'm 6'3" for what it's worth. To add insult to injury I had to find a suitable bunch of very large rocks to cover the hole with..just more work next time I'm out.

Yes Virginia, the AT Pro is a very deep detector.

Hopefully when I do, it'll be something I can post about. My main reason for posting this was just to underscore the posts about the depth of the AT! I quit carrying my lesche altogether after getting this detector! Of course, I don't hunt parks and yards anymore which has something to do with it as well. Target-wise, if it's what I hope for y'all will just have to stay mad at me! Anything less, including an oil can from the '50's, I'll be happy to post! Considering that I was by myself at the time, and I have others that are collaborating on this venture, I decided to leave whatever it is in place till we can all see whatever it is come to light. Everybody stays happy when they're involved!

Use your Propointer, the target is probly in the side of the hole:rofl: But seriously keep diggin, U never know with the ATPro.

Did that! I don't like digging to China unless that's where my target really is.. Now I DID learn that lesson the hard way though! LOL! Next time out I'll get double verification with the other AT (my buddy). What will be interesting is that I just had my AT upgraded at Garrett yesterday..and I wonder if the signal will now disappear! Time will tell!

I would take another detector out to verify the signal before i would dig any further. Its like getting a second opinion!

Absolutely will do that! I'm hoping to get a little time in the next few days...
