Not sure if he's wanting to post publicly so I figured I'd ask for him and he can chime in if he wants. Sounds like a military mine detector maybe? Anybody?

Sounds like the Fisher Gemini 3 to me.... 2 box system for relic hunting mostly.

Cool John .... i thought they had it confused with a Fisher. What would one do with a mine detector..... well unless they lived in jersey.

That's what I told him, that it pretty wouldn't be good at all for coin or ring hunting. But then one never knows with a Minelab. I think many modern land mines have very little metal in them (some are entirely plastic so a detector can find them), so maybe it's tuned so that it will hit hard on tiny gold earings and thin chains maybe?

It would be my guess any metal even tiny would be of a highly conductive nature so im not sure how affective they might be on gold items. Most arent real light weight either.... a none expensive machine might do just as well.
