Some useless info for you Cibola swingers

As many of you know I just got a Cibola, I am wanting to do the ground balance mod. on it when I get the time & $$$. I was out in my yard this morning playing around with the Cibola and discovered something odd. With the frequency switch in the middle position (where I keep it when hunting) when I push the pinpoint button in adjust the threshold to a slight hum and bob the coil towards the ground the threshold gets a hair louder (a slight positive ground balance) where I would set it if I could set it manually. But if I change the frequency switch into either of the other positions the ground balance gets way positive. I just thought that I would post this in case any of you are using a Cibola (and don't want to adjust the internal g.b. pot.) and the g.b. is alittle negative for your ground maybe putting the freq/ switch in the other positions might help you out. Steve.

Interesting!

Now can you tell if they is a difference in distance when you pass a ferrite core along the bottom of the coil after you switch frequencies?

I'll have to try it with my Eldo.

I will be compiling a file on Tesoro mods etc. this fall and winter
Check out my new site----- google TreasureLinx

Not a Tesoro , but changing frequencies on a Mnelab Sovereign GT ( it has 2 bands ) with a meter , will change the VID number of the same target by appox. 3 numbers higher !!.... I've often wondered how cool it would be to have a swapt frequency control .....Sort of a roll your own so to speak ...Jim
