Some Unusual Gold To Sell

RLOH

Well-known member
I have been detecting for 12 plus years and I dig more than my share of junk. I have never found a gold coin, but I have found many gold rings and pendants. A couple of years back, I sold several gold rings to Midwest Refiners and I was happy with my paycheck from them. This year I found two gold crowns that came in as nickles on my detector. Has anyone ever found and or sold gold dental crowns? If so, what might I expect to get from selling them? R.L. Johnson

I do know that most dental gold is 16k. You would be able to sell to anyone that buys scrap gold.Hope this helps.

I had this happen to me a few years ago, the maintenance worker at my nursing home was changing out a sink in one of the rooms and found a crown in the sink trap. He held onto it for a couple of years and when it wasn't claimed he gave it to me because he knew I was a prospector. So I sent it to that Cash for Gold place and they sent me a check for $11.00, I wasn't very happy this thing was about 5 grams so I requested it back and sent them the check back. I put on E-bay when I got it back ( there is a market for dental gold ) and I ended up selling it for $85.00. So I would say put it on E-bay that's where you are going to get the most for what you got.

I've found two dental crowns of gold in my time detecting. One was a front "grill," covering four teeth.
I've not sold them but have always held on to them as curiosities. But then, I keep everything I find.
