some trial software revs

After reading the post from pineapple I have to wonder if the revisions or any software improvements will be available to the people who already own a current T2 ?
Seems they are (Dave Johnson) still tweaking the software to make the T2 an even better behaving detector and that's a GOOD thing ?
I guess my question is, will it be a simple send in and download thing or only available to future released unit ?
Does anybody know or is this privileged information, I wouldn't think it is because pineapple posted Dave's quoted email, therefore, it left me wondering what the future will bring in upgrades ?
I don't mean to take Daves words out of context seeing how TRIAL SOFTWARE REVS are just that !
Thanks
Mike

Mike,

Where is the post you're referring to about Dave's email? I'd like to read it as well. I just bought a T-2 yesterday.

Thanks,

David

Frequency shift update post by pineapple is locked towards the top of this forum. I was waiting on Dave Johnson to send me a test unit that they have been working on for some time now. I suspect that it has some of these upgrades and they are still tweaking it before sending it out to me. But .... I wanted to get some real hunt time in with the T2 BEFORE taking it to the NS Hunt in Virginia this month so I ordered a new one yesterday too.
Not trying to start any kind of ruckus here folks but since I read pineapples post, well, it got my wondering.

just a minor "tweak" or a major software revision, Teknetics will take care of it for the existing T-2 owners...The T-2 I had, didn't have an issues that I noticed...Best to all, RichardnTn

I'd be very interested in the changes to the T2 as would any of us that had just purchased the T2 thinking that it was finished released. Hopefully, Dave Johnson will post replys to our concerns here on the forum or through personal emails.

I wouldn't think that Dave would release the Tek T2 to the market without the finishing touches again... would he? hence (T2)

At any rate I'm sure of this companies reputation, and the reputation Dave Johnson, if there's any software problems they'll take care of us, so don't worry.
Now get yourself out there with that T2 and have a ball!

I noticed that you said, the T2 that I had.Did you sell yours also Richard.Seems like a lot of guys have been selling them lately.I was thinking of trying one out,but think i'll wait a little longer now.Dave

The machine that I had was a good one...no problems at all, very deep, hot on brass, and great seperation....tax time and I need to sell my inventory of personal and business machines down....Best to you, Richardntn

Guy's I too was wondering about if and when a new T2 hits the market will First Texas provide for any updates to be made to the already released version. I would like to say this though and just made a post about it in on my websites Home Page. After now acquiring many more hours on my unit since I made my initial field test, I have come to find out that the T2 once you understand all that it is telling you and once you have identified the best settings for a given area will do the job as effectively if not more-so than most units on the market today. Some of what I deemed deficiencies in the units performance when I first wrote my report are now non-issues as far as I am concerned since I have found the work-arounds. The reason I believe the unit was performing to my expectations when I first got it was simply because of my total understanding of the unit. I have since as I previously mentioned come to develop a much better understanding of the unit and how on function/feature can be used in conjunction with another to make it more effective and proficient. Just last week I was working with a few settings that I wanted to proof out for Gold jewelry. I myself thought I did rather well considering the number of rings I found. The day before that I worked the unit at a old homestead and was primarily looking for silver. The unit is more than proficient in this department and if you haven't found silver yet with your unit it's only because you're more than likely in an area where there isn't any.

After working the unit and finding both Silver and Gold I came back home and tweaked my data just a tad more and came up with yet two more setting which I will be trying out tomorrow at the same lake I found the last batch of rings. I plan on getting to the lake early thus giving me all day to really work the area good. Will have a buddy along this time though since it was kinda hard concentrating on what the unit was telling me while trying to keep my eyes on the Gators and Snakes that infest the place. Didn't want to take my dog since they are like Gator magnets around here. I have much more respect now for the unit than when I first got it and even after having put in more than 400hrs on it. Seems like each time I take it out it shows me it is capable of doing much more.

The issue as it relates to rusted bottle caps and caps in general is no longer a issue for me. I have resolved that one. The issue with pull tabs regardless of type is no longer an issue, like the caps I have resolved it too. The issue with the high mineralization relative to our heavy clay down here is also resolved. Iron....no issue, target separation...no issue. The only ones I am still working with at this point are the shallow (above 3in depth) target identification (accuracy). The other that I still would like to see changed is that of widening the VDI segmentation (instead of going from 0-99....I would like to see it spread open much more considering you can go from 0-299 if you wanted to, though I understand one would have to give up some gain in doing so. At least that is what I was told. Depth is fine as is and don't think you could ask for more considering the current coil size. Target ID at depths below 3in is about as accurate as one could ask for too. I hear many saying they would like to see a smaller coil offered and I too would agree with that since I have ran into several areas where had I had one I could have probably pulled some nice coins up. When I get into them situations, I just pull out my TR, slap on the 4in and work the area. I know this isn't a fix but for now I can live with it considering I predominately use the larger coil anyway.

We all need to remember, this is new detector and with it comes the growing pains. The one thing I do want to emphasize though is YOU ARE NOT GOING TO MASTER THIS UNIT IN A MONTH OR TWO. As I previously stated I now have many more hours than I did when I wrote my first report and at that time I had slightly more than 300hrs on the unit. I am STILL learning stuff about it. What will it's full potential be....I have no idea, but can tell you that from what I have learned thus far it is a keeper and any improvements they make to it will only make it even better and more competitive. Would I rate it up there with the higher ended machines at this point...ABSOLUTELY! Does it have bugs or obvious shortfalls? It would all depend upon what you call a shortfall. There is no single one unit out there that will do it all, lets not ever forget that! But, when you take a unit and find that it will perform to a level that I would at least consider competitive enough to go into a competition hunt with, or one that you can have a 90% comfort level in knowing it CAN find both GOLD and SILVER with the best of them and at depth that will defy many others then I would say you have a good unit. The key is in understanding the unit, applying those settings that will allow it to peak out, and lastly monitoring your data. Each and everyplace we detect will have a slightly different effect on this unit. I believe we have all read that it is one super sensitive unit. I can attest to that and have no qualms in saying if you're not adapting to your detecting sites environment then you're not allowing the unit to work to it's fullest potential. Understand what each setting will do and how it will react in combination with the other functions/features. If you master that you will significantly increase your find yield on average regardless of where you go to detect. Tomorrow I run it across that lake front again, if I find more than 3-4 gold pieces then in my book it is a KEEPER!
