How about others posting tips for detecting ?
Here's one :
When in a new town go to the public telephone book - they usually have a colored page section up front that shows a map of the area. Frequently, it also shows where all the city parks are. Steve in so la

Never tried that one.

I kept the information from the schools showing when the schools were closed for parents and teacher's meetings and the holidays and etc. Sure was helpful for me to detect the school grounds and play areas without the children or teachers being there often times! Also, that was when the parks would be full of kids and adults when there wasn't any school for certain days; especially in the Spring and Fall warmer days! Happy Hunting, everyone! God Bless! Ma
