Some Sov.GT Questions

The lower rod doesn't slip into the space between the ears of the Tornado10 coil. It is an 1/8" too wide for the opening.

Do I have to grind it down to fit? Also, is there any kind of rubber spacer that is supposed to be there?

Lastly, charged the battery 131/2 hours and the green light stayed bright green contrary to the manuals description which says the light should dim/fade after 12-14 hours.

Is there a problem with letting it charge longer than 14 hours?

Many thanks for your replies in advance,

CJ

The lower rod is identical to the excalibur except the snap button is on the bottom instead of the side. There should be teardrop washers on both sides. Sounds like you got a bum lower rod. If you have an older Excalibur lower rod around the house make sure the coil is not the problem.

The green light does not dim that well on new batteries. After time it will dim more as the instruction manual says. I charge mine about 12 hrs. I can get 8 hrs easy out of a charge. The initial charge might take a little longer.

I have had my GT for 6 months and when I go to charge the re-chargeable battery it is a little "dimmer" by morning but still shines green. Nothing wrong with it. I get about 10 hours (max) out of a charge. HH - Jim

Thanks for the info Friends!

The machine is new removed from an unopened carton with the Minlab seal intact and the lower shaft is the wrong shaft!!!!!!!!

And they are raising the cost of this machine to over a thou.....?

Fortunatly I bought a SEF coil for my Excal and the shaft fits perfectly!!

At least I can be hunting while waiting for the replacement shaft!

This last question is still unanswered..............

Does charging longer than 14hours damage the battery pack?

GL&HH Fellow Hunters,

CJ

somthings wrong if the shaft will not fit that does not sound right maybe they gave you the wrong shaft ,

Hey CJ,

What shaft did they include with it? from which detector I mean?
on the battery, they are trickle charge and you can go over without harm, Ive done as goodmore has myself with no problem but I wouldnt make a habit of it:biggrin:

Good luck with your new GT!

Thanks for all the info Friends!

I'm glad I don't have to agonize over charging the battery pack too much.

Neil, I don't know anything about the shaft except that it is for a Minlab, but not a GT.

Best wishes to you all,

CJ
