hello there been hunting this old cellar home site and got this brass tag of some sort its 21/2" long x 1 3/4" tall and since a day out of the ground i noticed engravement of a ship unfortunately can't see in this pic but its there i'll try to take better pics
 
The outline of the tag, sort of looks like the drawn outline of some of the old, World maps. Or the shape of a sail. When i was a kid the World map was mounted above the chalkboard at school. You could pull in down like a window shade and it would roll back up like one too. It could be the pull off something like that, although I doubt that is very likely.
 
It looks like it used to be cylindrical then smashed. Maybe it was on a wooden rod then the wood rotted out.
