Gday,
We all love silver crossing our palms.
Today I doubled my collection of Florins.
They were found using the 5x10" DD HF coil and were about 4" down.
They were worth one tenth of a pound or 2 shillings ( commonly called 2 Bob)
They were made redundant in 1966 when Australia went to decimal currency.
Pre1946 Florins were 925 silver and weigh about one third of an ounce.
1946 - 1966 are 50% silver.
I also bagged some modern coins for the piggy bank (new dectector fund) and a crusty old copper Half Penny 1916.
Happy detecting everyone.
