Some screen shots and the results

Thought I'd explorer the CTX's screen shot feature and the resulting targets. These shots are all taken in the wild.

I like way you posted that information. Your screen looks like you've setup a pretty selective coin pattern. Thanks.

Looks good did you recheck the hole with the nail? Looks like it was showing 2 targets the nail and a zinc penny.

Nice screenshots. Gives a good idea of where things hit and HOW they hit. I notice large objects that aren't too deep fill up the circle crosshair - often a dead giveaway of something that isn't a coin.

I too like the way you displayed your data with the screen shot and the photo. Congrats on the 10K ring - I probably would not have dug that - too much foil in that range for me!

Very nice way of showing information!! By the way, you better charge that battery:poke: Was the 10k ring at a park?? What prompted you to dig a 12.01?? Good thing you did!! Another question is on the square nail.......its showing 2 targets, 1 bad and 1 in the zinc range. I am assuming that you are using combine ferrous coin? I have yet to have iron hit in the 12.30's. I have only gotten falses at 1.50 and sometimes in the 40's. But I use combine ground coin. Thanks for the info and HH Joe

Very cool great info you can see how the direction of the trace indicates the target type when iron is near by. I like the screen shot will have to play with that some. Where do you access that?

Yes I did re-check the hole after finding the nail and found nothing. I was a bit surprised myself.

Actually, my battery just came out of the charger showing fully charged. I posted about this issue when I first got my CTX. Even if I let it charge all night and day in the CTX it always shows a low battery. I've hunted for many hours and never had it go dead so I'm guessing the CTX is not showing the correct battery charge. I ordered a AA battery pverifyingrify it is the CTX, but they are on backorder.

All these items were found at a school site. One The current school was built in 1929 to replace the old school which was there in the late 1800's and burned down. Lots of nails and trash in some areas so I use the a very tight pattern. In the other areas I use to open pattern, and Gonehunting's settings, and dig anything this isn't a grunt.

Yes....I do remember now you posting about the charge awhile ago. Strange. Good find at a school. I would have never dug that thinking foil....but I'm just leaving it for the guy behind me with a little more energy. Think I will start to dig more low tones. Keep up the good work and HH Joe

Thats awesome, boy I sure hope that change that feature so that you can save these screen shots and shut the machine off. It would be so nice!

Southwind, I think I can see why you dug that ring. Foil, being light, normally wouldn't sink very deep, but your depth reading showed 5" so at that depth there was a good chance it could be a ring, or at least something else that wasn't foil, so it was worth investigating. Am I correct? Thank you very much for your excellent post. I don't have a ctx yet because I want to wait a few months to hear of new model problems, and how people like the machine, and if they think it is worth the money. Information like you showed makes me think I am going to want one the latter part of this year. I currently use a Fisher cz-70 at parks, and a Sovereign GT at the beach.

It sounds like after the dealers sell their current supplies it may be a while before they get more. It seems Minelab is having a vendor problem and the supply line has run dry for now. There will probably be a few on ebay this fall as occasional users will have second thoughts about their purchase.

Yes you're correct lobo. Of course in this huntinenvironmentnt(school playground) I check all signals above iron because I've found many pieces of gold this low VDI. In this case I believe this was an older ring because of the depth and there is no stamps. I used my gold tester to find it is 10k.

Very cool post here! Thanks for the effort! Coins really do make a small footprint. Easy to spot!

Yeah Bart - I always use pinpoint sizing to get an idea of the size relative to the depth. I also raise the coil. Doing this lots of times gives you a better idea of what the target might me and weeds out the bad ones somewhat.
