Some Roman & Medevil finds with Xterra 30

Welsh Neil

New member
Greetings from the land of the dragon!

I was off last week and so managed to get in a few hours a day on 2 of my 4 sites. Well it took until the end of the week to find anything Roman but here goes.

I am virtually sure that the first item is a Roman Key from 100AD (found on a 14th C farm) in fantastic condition, you can still make out the iron key pary and the bronze handle is pretty much perfect. Lovely patina, but I guess thats what 2000 years in soil does to bronze. Only 5 inches down! Inscription on the front - any help anyone?

Next came a Roman coin on a different farm site which is close to an Iron Age hillfort (I could see it from where I dug the coin). this was quite a bit deeper at 8/9 inches, but was great all the same. It may be Nero - anyone help with the ID?

Medieval bronze pot leg - confirmed by the Finds Officer for Cardiff Museum (12th to 14th Century).

Post medieval lead trade weight with a Roman numeral for 10 (X) - confirmed by FO at Cardiff Museum.

A copper George III coin (1760's)

any help anyone can give on these items would be appreciated

Cheers
