Some Really Nice Shafts For The Sovereign (Old Sovereigns And The GT)

I ordered the snap on stand from plugger good investment it either fits the GT or the DFX rods stands about 4 inches tall keeps the box or in my case the Search probe box out of the dirt or sand i turned mine upward so it does not keep hitting my hip pouch when swinging the coil works prefect  Jim

It looks great. The thing that's kept me from getting one? - I like to search in all-metal and flip the switch into discrimination to check my target. How can I do that easily if the control box is behind my elbow?

Rob

You could flip the control box mount so that the control box is mounted backwards. Then you only have to reach under your arm to throw the switch. I've read about guys doing that in the past. Or, you could mod your Sovereign with a remote PP. I posted a schematic I made for the GT a while back and it can also be found in the mods forum under the Sovereign GT Mods. There are also mods posted on the net to do a remote PP on older Sovereigns that don't have the same switch setup as the GT.

I just realized that those rods are made by Plugger. I've heard many people in the past rave about how good his rods are. I can see why. With the meter mounting on top of the grip and the box behind the elbow those are some really nice rods. I made my own light weight rod and have my meter mounted on top of the grip, but if I didn't build my own I would buy one of those Plugger shafts. Never could figure out why Minelab had the meter mounting behind the hand grip where you couldn't see it easily. I see Plugger has various meter mounting options listed as well. I used a bike end bar for my grip and have a remote PP switch mounted in it, hanging down in front of your hand like a "normal" metal detector such as a Whites. I'm using a Whites arm cup on it as well to save even more weight and running on a 3 cell lipo battery. I'm also using a Whites carbon fiber tall man rod for my lower shaft, and lighter grade aluminum to save weight for the upper shaft. I've saved about a pound and a half in weight with all this. The stock GT shaft and stock arm cup is what I use for my water rig when water hunting. I keep the stock 10" coil on that shaft so it's always ready to go, and only needs me to throw the control box in the chest mount Minelab bag.

Yes they are Plugger's & you can also buy them from Indian Nations Metal Detectors......& their great to deal with.....HH....Tab.

I got a Plugger rod for a XS-2a pro from Chuck at Indian Nations, it is quality made and Chuck is a great guy to deal with. I really like the style of shaft lock that comes on them

I've been trying to steer the members to PLUGGERS ACCESSORIES for years, and to CHUCK, since I did my 1st deal with him, over a year ago!!
P.S. Plugger's new "SHAFT LOCKS" are ABSOLUTELY F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!! HH, Les Robinson
