Some questions from a new user...

I got to try out my Excal 1000 in the yard today. The threshold at times is low and bassy, but at other times seems more mid range. Is this normal? I tried it in Auto and with the sensitivity controls. It seemed to operate fine with various targets.

I also want to find out about simple replacement parts. I noticed that the cam lock is stripped from over tightening and I also broke the pinpoint/disc button which appeared to be dry rotted. Are these simple to order from ML or is there another alternative?

Ebay for the knobs or replace all radio shack...Eric has a nice set on his from RS..maybe he will chime in........
I have several video's on the excal and it tones..

Thanks for your help! I am beginning to get used to the tones on the Excal. The more I use it the more I am liking it!

Has anyone made a straight shaft for the excal? I just purchased a used excal 800. It is too heavy to use, for very long in original form. Any help appreciated. Digginduck

Thanks for all of your responses. I got mine from a local dealer, http://www.golddiggermetaldetectors.com/ .. He carries Anderson Detector Shafts. http://www.andersondetectorshafts.com/

The threshold changes to the pitch of the last target you went over until you go over the next target.

Has anyone tried the excal S rod extension by Pluggers? Looks like a easy and cheap way to mount box and battery behind the elbow. Wonder how the balance and weight works out. Digginduck WV.
